Individual therapy

Individual therapy is one person and one clinician, usually weekly or every other week, in person at our Edmonds office or by telehealth. Sessions are 54 minutes.

People come in for anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, substance use, self-esteem, and trouble understanding or managing emotions. You don't need a diagnosis or the right words for what's going on. A first session is mostly about getting to know each other and figuring out where to start.

Several of our clinicians are trained in EMDR, a treatment for trauma, and work with first responders and others carrying job-related trauma. A certified first responder counselor and a certified first responder associate are on the team, and we know the lives and particular challenges of first responders and law enforcement well.

We also see kids and teens, ages 6 to 17, in person or by telehealth. They come in for anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, big emotions that are hard to manage, and hard changes at home or school. Every clinician on our team sees teens. Not every one sees younger kids, so we schedule them with the ones who do.

For kids and teens, parents usually join the intake and some or all of the first few sessions. After that it's normally just the kid, though depending on their age and what's going on, parents may keep joining on some regular basis.
